She's focused on areas including school safety the infrastructure and opiates as well as trade. She has not had much contact with media outlets in the job she has. The attention she attracted in March came when she was named one of the candidates to replace Hope Hicks. Mercedes Schlapp does not have a simple job of White House strategic communication adviser. Mercedes Schlapp is faced with an administration beset by numerous problems, such as the president's role as its own communication director as well as Cabinet Secretaries that are caught up in the controversies surrounding their respective departments. Schlapp's allies started fighting Tony Sayegh over the media. Schlapp said that when the Washington Examiner ran a story with negative remarks about Sayegh she had a conversation with Sayegh.
